Dragonfly #2
This male Seaside Dragonlet (Erythrodiplax berenice) is only about 1 1/4 inches long. It is unique because it is the only dragonfly in the western hemisphere that breeds in salt water. Males defend a territory by perching near a pool. The male and female oviposit together, often on mats of algae. I photographed this one in the early morning, while dew was still on its back.
