Blue Dasher Close Up 0989

The Blue Dasher Dragonfly (Pachydiplax longipennis) is abundant and easy to see near many slow moving bodies of water. Males can be distinguished by their green eyes and white faces. The compound eyes of dragonflies have about 30,000 facets and give them almost 360 degrees of vision. They do not sting or bite, but their voracious appetites do help keep other insects in check.
